ABSTRACT ART QUILTIE for QA

Geeeeez...........I haven't posted for a very long time !!! I'm doing a kitchen make-over (myself, with a little help from my DH) and have not been looking a blogs or blogging myself....just painting cabinets ***inside & out***and moving stuff & moving stuff & moving more stuff !!! when this project is finished I will post pics....

In the mean time here are the pictures of my ABSTRACT ART QUILTIE that I sent to Quilting Arts magazine challenge....

I took the photo of a marigold from my garden and than I painted my own fabric...and cut it up....stitched it back together...and it has a little beading too...like dew drops...I called it "MARIGOLD SQUARED" .... I tried to keep it simple like I thought an abstract should be...I sooooo wanted to add more but to me an "abstract" is a basic interpetation of the subject...so here it is!!!!

Arty Meme
The Arty Meme is a chance to have a piece of needleart from a fellow needlewoman! The idea is to offer 5 pieces of your work on your blog. The first 5 people to ask for your work will get one of the pieces. Her obligation to the Meme is that she must then announce the meme on her blog and offer 5 of her pieces to others. The exchange of artwork continues. . .Mediums, methods, execution, deadlines are up to the offering needlewoman! Have fun

Adventure at the Post Office-a postal story

mailed pc's out today!!! but what an ordeal at the postoffice...you'd think they never saw mail before..LOL...I had bought my stamps and put them on before I even got to the post office..39centers...which is first class mail...and I wanted the clerk to handcancel them before I put them in the clear sleeve...well, the clerk could only see a postcard...and had to call his superviser out to ok this...now the superviser told me no way was he going to let me mail these as postcards...he had to measure & pull out some gizmo to slide it through to be sure it fit and than there was the question of the thickness & so on... and than gave me a big long lecture that they may get messed up in the machines or mess up the machines or something....blah blah blah....they never heard a word I said about the 39 cent stamp...after much ado about nothing...(about 10 mins.) ... they finally realized I was sending first class not pc rate...now these guys are not newbies so there really is no excuse for that kind of behavior...geeeez....after they realized it was first class postage it was OK to send them...the post office should be more than happy about us sending this mailart...THEY SELL MORE STAMPS for heavensakes!!!! I pay all my bills on line now (as do millions of others)and do not buy stamps except for sending out art now...anyway, it was an adventure..LOL....

and I hope I don't have to go through that again with each clerk...

Painted Fabric postcard exchange "SUNSPOTS"

I made these postcards from the left over fabric I had painted for the Quilting Arts Abstract challenge...
these postcards will be going to a yahoo group exchange...
I handpainted muslin...than cut it up in little squares and raw edged appliqued them to batting....than added handpainted gauze and free-motion stitched...than put the postcard together...as I was making them all I could think of was how it remided me of SUNSPOTS....so that is what the series is called....

STAMP FLOWER PAINTING technique

after yesterday's leaf printing I remembered I had little foam stamps from about 10 years ago...they were very popular at the time...I found them and the glaze paint ... the paint was still good...so I stamped away!!!

I like the watercolor look this technique produces...I'm going to free-motion machine stitch this batch and see how I like it....
