Painted Fabric postcard exchange "SUNSPOTS"

I made these postcards from the left over fabric I had painted for the Quilting Arts Abstract challenge...
these postcards will be going to a yahoo group exchange...
I handpainted muslin...than cut it up in little squares and raw edged appliqued them to batting....than added handpainted gauze and free-motion stitched...than put the postcard together...as I was making them all I could think of was how it remided me of SUNSPOTS....so that is what the series is called....

STAMP FLOWER PAINTING technique

after yesterday's leaf printing I remembered I had little foam stamps from about 10 years ago...they were very popular at the time...I found them and the glaze paint ... the paint was still good...so I stamped away!!!

I like the watercolor look this technique produces...I'm going to free-motion machine stitch this batch and see how I like it....

experimental LEAF PRINTING sept. 2006

I wanted to try leaf printing on a dark background...
I spray painted a piece of muslin...found some leaves in my yard and used DEKA fabric paint for the leaves...I used a brayer to press the painted leaves on to the fabric....I like the look of this...will probably use it for a background fabric....postcards?????? ummm, maybe................................

IN the MERMAID GARDEN series for FFAC postcards

I created these 6 fiber postcards for Virginia Spiegel's Fiber Art for a Cause... http://tinyurl.com/q7xr6 ....

creating postcards is my NEW ADDICTION....these are some of my first ones....I wanted to use my Babylock Embellisher & my Janome MC 300e embroidery machine together in a project...well, here are the results!!! I am very pleased with the effect...and the background fabric is my own handpainted muslin...the pictures don't show the sheen of the mermaids and the bits of angelina fibers....
I will be making more of this series... Please feel free to leave a comment!!!!!
