Pillowcases everywhere!

oh boy!!!

this just proves how obsessive/compulsive I am !!! Patsy sent me a technique to make pillowcases with no exposed seams...well, I tried making one & totally became hooked on making them...I had yards of OOP novelty fabrics from a previous time that I otherwise would never use now...and I was going to give it all away...until I made that pillowcase! well, now everyone in my family is getting pillowcases as gifts this year...what fun this is...and I had to buy more themed novelty fabrics for my grandson's pillowcases...ha !!! he'll have a set for every month this year....geeeezzzzz....but ya' know...it feels really really good to do useful sewing again....I think this year I'm going to do a lot more of it....

Saturday

Feeling Blue Swap

I used my new toy-"the flower stitcher foot" to make a 5" square quiltie for a trade...the theme was "Feeling Blue" ... I put a blue piece of chiffon over the top & zapped it...but it hardly shows...next time I will use a more contrasting piece...also did a little beading...
and in the same trade was a bookmark challenge...so there are my 2 bookmarks done with my Babylock embellisher...love that machine...punched asst. fibers onto blue cotton & added a bit of beading...statin-stitched the edges...added fibers for the tassel...

Orange Art Squares 2007

here are my embellished Orange Art Squares for a trade...they are 1.5" square...I have decided that art squares or inches are not my thing...I've done a few trades with this small size & really do not enjoy it...maybe it's just the mood I'm in at the moment...VBG...

I didn't do much art this summer...I've been in a kinda' funk...we had a lot of sudden life changes..un-expected type...but we are adjusting now & life goes forward no matter what....

I did do a lot of fabric painting/dyeing...here are a few pictures...but I must have colored close to a hundred yards of various cotton types....

Tag Challenge - Arty-facts & Monet-ish

I made these tags for a challenge on Carol T's Yahoo group....
I started with a tag shape & glued some fabric paper I made last year to the shape...wrapped it around the tag...than I started to play with embossing powders & built up some texture with Misty Fuse & nettings...all melted together with heat tool...great textures! this was just the backgrounds...than on each tag I added different elements....bits & pieces of Model-Magic air dry clay---Tyvek---hot glue shapes---beads---lots of Lumiere paints...fancy yarns...
I had a great time playing with this....they look so much better in person though...I could not get a picture to capture all the niffy texture & color...oh well...I did use up some stuff I had from experimenting with different techniques from last year...the lesson is ---NEVER THROW ANYTHING AWAY !!! hahaha.....
